The Case for Christ - Written by Lee Strobel
Strobel, a former atheist, was the award-winning legal editor of the Chicago Tribune. His book focuses on answering the question, is there credible evidence that Jesus really is the Son of God? He interviews a dozen experts with recognized expertise in their own fields. This book is a great purchase for all Christians looking to sharpen or grow their apologetic skills. Heroes & Heretics - Written by Rev. Dr. Iain Campbell

Campbell is the pastor of the Free Church of Scotland. This book is great for a quick yet informative overview of the first 2000 years of church history. The church history is very important for any Christian to understand because studying church history gives us a better glance at God through what He has been doing over the past 2000 years. In fact Campbell points out in his introduction that, “Jesus stands over history as its Lord, behind history as its meaning, and before history as its purpose” (pg. 11). This book is an easy read and a must buy for understanding more about the early church as well as pivotal moments throughout each century.

Lifegiver - Hyperstatic Union

Birthed in high school music classes and Northwest garages and raised on a heavy diet of classic R&B, Seattle grunge and melodic rock ‘n’ roll, Hyper Static Union enters with an album that is intensely original, instantly memorable and immensely compelling. With influences ranging from Parliament to Led Zeppelin, from Seal to Sade to Sting to Steely Dan, it’s easy to see why Shawn Lewis (guitar/vocals), Ray Burnham (drums), Mike Jackson (bass) and Bryan Albrechtson (guitar) don’t want to limit their sound to just one definition. Instead, this four-piece act from Vancouver, WA crafts its own style of pure musical excellence and significant lyrical impact.
That prediction appears well founded, based on the potent, catchy pop/rock confections at the core of this disc. Yet, from the theologically aware choice of moniker (hypostatic union is a term used to express the co-existence of the divine and human in the incarnate person of Jesus), it’s clear that even the light-hearted funky pop songs—say, “Overhead” or “Child of His Grace,” two produced by Mark Heimermann—are intended to carry a direct spiritual message of some significance and depth.

Define the Great Line - Underoath

Very rarely does a monumental record find itself matched with the promise of commercial success. But the strength, intensity and explosive lure of Define The Great Line, Underoath's follow up to its breakthrough They're Only Chasing Safety, is undeniable.
Crafted with the help of Atlanta-based producer/drummer Matt Goldman - who helped pour the rhythmic foundation - and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz - who lent his experience to help capture the guitars and vocals and encouraged these Warped Tour veterans to use E-bows, reel bows and experiment with delays and effects pedals - the resulting Define The Great Line is a mind-blowing song-cycle that resets the notion of what hardcore, screamo or whatever you want to call it, can be.
